This policy covers federationcrew.com, federationcrew.org and federationcrew.ai. RogerLe.com, jointly owned by Roger and Le, is responsible for these sites. For privacy questions or requests, use RogerLe.com Helpdesk.
When you visit
You do not need an account or payment to read the Federation sites.
Our servers keep access and error logs to run, troubleshoot and protect the sites. These can include your IP address, requested page, time, browser information, referring page and response status. We use them for operation and security, not advertising profiles.
We rely on our legitimate interests in maintaining secure, working sites and answering enquiries, and on legal obligations where they apply.
Simple analytics
We use Umami, hosted by us at farol.rogerle.com, to understand which pages are read and where visitors come from. It records page views and technical details such as page title, path, referring site, browser and operating system, device type, country, browser language and screen size.
Umami does not save IP addresses in its analytics database. The server still receives an IP address when handling a request, and separate server logs may record it.
Our tracker excludes URL queries and fragments and respects your browser’s Do Not Track setting. We do not use analytics cookies, visitor account IDs, session recordings, form tracking or advertising trackers.
Your theme choice
Choosing light or dark mode saves that preference in your browser. Each domain keeps its own setting. The preference is not sent to our server and stays until you or your browser remove it. You can clear it through your browser’s site-data settings.
When you contact us
The Helpdesk asks for your name, email address and the details of your request. Attach only what is needed. It is a separate RogerLe.com service, covered by RogerLe.com’s privacy policy.
The Commons also offers an email address for corrections. Email providers, including Gmail for the receiving address, process messages as part of delivery. We leave private contact details out of public correction records.
Storage and retention
The Federation sites are hosted in Los Angeles, United States. Our Farol analytics service is hosted in Helsinki, Finland. Visiting the sites therefore involves requests to servers in the United States, even if you are elsewhere.
Our self-hosted Umami installation has no automatic deletion schedule. Analytics stays in its database until we delete it manually.
Our site logs rotate daily when they contain entries, with up to 52 rotated files retained per log. This is a rotation count, so quiet logs may remain longer. Records needed to investigate an incident or meet a legal obligation may be kept for that purpose.
Your rights
Depending on applicable law, you may ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, or restrict or object to its use. Other rights, including portability, may apply. You may also complain to the relevant data-protection authority.
Send requests through the Helpdesk. We may need to confirm the request concerns your information. We will respond within the time required by law.
Security and changes
We use HTTPS and access controls, although no security measure removes every risk. External sites have their own privacy practices.
We will update this page if our practices change. A policy update does not itself provide consent for a new use of your information.
